the great Salt Lake / bright lights, big city

Jason and I took a short trip to Utah a couple of weekends ago. we left friday at midnight after Jason got off work and came home monday night.

we drove to Salt Lake first for Jason's family reunion. we (mainly Jason) had driven through the night so we were pretty tired. we had some time before the reunion we went to a vintage clothing store called Decades. it had a lot of great vintage and it was well priced too.

after the reunion we walked around Temple square. it was pouring rain so we didn't stay there as long as we wanted to.

we stayed with Jason's cousin in Heber that night. he lives in a beautiful neighborhood right at the foot of the mountain.

we rode quads up the mountain and the view was incredible.

we drove to Park City and walked around main street. it is such a charming city and the few times I have been there I have always enjoyed it.

we were excited to find street art by Banksy. we had never seen any of his work before even on our cross country trip.

we ate lunch at a little cafe while watching the rain and hail out the window.

we stayed the night in Provo and ate breakfast at this great little place called Waffle Love. Jason ordered a waffle that had cinnamon and fried ice cream on it and it was incredible.

we then began our drive to our next destination Las Vegas. on the way there we stopped at this gas station that had a petting zoo by it with a camel, zorses, deer, and goats. it was in the middle of nowhere and very random but a nice little surprise.

 I'm a dork :)

we made a quick stop at the St. George temple which was beautiful.

we made it to Vegas that evening and walked up and down the strip. the last time we had been to Vegas was in '08 and we were very disappointed. this time was better and we were pleasantly surprised that the streets seemed a lot cleaner than they used to be.  we stayed there a few hours and we enjoyed our quick trip there but wouldn't have wanted to stay there any longer.

it was a very quick trip but we saw a lot in the short time and had a great time. we now have added Utah and Nevada to the states we have been this year making the total 25! it has been a great year of traveling for us.
