Red Rocks

Jason and I had our 8th (!!) wedding anniversary last week so we celebrated by going up to Sedona for the weekend. I hadn't been there since I was a kid and all I remember was going to Slide Rock. it definitely didn't disappoint and we had a great time there on our short trip.

we went to the downtown area first and ate lunch.

we then went on a hike to Devil's bridge which is a natural rock arch. I was nervous to go on top of it but the arch looked much more narrow from the side than it actually was. there were a lot of people there but everyone was polite and took turns getting pictures on top of it.

we stayed in Flagstaff that night and the next morning went to a vintage clothing shop. we then went on a hike in Oak Creek Canyon. it was pretty but we want to go back in the spring when there's more foliage.

the last thing we did was hike up to Cathedral rock. it was a short hike but very steep and more of a rock climb at some points. we went around sunset and the view was incredible.

once we made it to the top the sun was just setting casting a beautiful glow on everything. there was a couple up there and the guy came over to Jason, gave him his phone and said quietly- hey can you take a picture of us? I'm about to propose.- he went over to his girlfriend, got on his knees and asked her to marry him! it was the sweetest thing ever. I snapped a few pics of him proposing cause I thought they'd want some on a real camera. they were the cutest couple and she was ecstatic. she was so grateful that we took some pics of it and she even asked her fiance if he had hiked us up there- ha! they said they were so lucky we were up there with them. I'm glad we hiked up there when we did. it was a great way to end the trip!
