I've had dreams of Boston all of my life

we left NJ the next day and started driving to Boston. we drove straight through Connecticut without stopping. the drive was beautiful with thick green trees.

we drove through a city in RI and got lunch. the city was adorable and it had a little river that went though the center.

we got into MA and pulled into this neighborhood with beautiful old houses to figure out where to go. it was at this moment that I realized how far we had driven. we had reached the furthest point in our journey. while the drive had been great so far I was worried about what we got ourselves into still having to drive across the country to get home. the feeling passed quickly and that was the only time I felt that way.

we found somewhere to park and took the subway (the "T") into Boston. we went to Boston Common which is a huge park and walked around. the park is very clean and pretty. it was very cold in the 40's/50's and we weren't prepared for it. I had on my vintage wrap sweater and Jason had a jean jacket so we were both pretty cold. we were in a wealthier area and we felt way under dressed. the locals were all dressed very professionally and had on nice black jackets.

we were going to walk the Freedom Trail which is a brick lined route to a bunch of historical sites. we didn't have a lot of time so we just walked to the Massachusetts State house and a few other monuments by Boston Common.

we met a local in the park that had two little dogs like ours. he was really nice and friendly and he told us of a good place to eat. we were going to eat at Cheers but he recommended somewhere less touristy. he even invited us to stay at his place when we told him that all of the hotels in the city were booked up because of Harvard graduation. we politely declined but he was nice enough to show us a good app we can use to find hotels.
after we ate we went to Cheers. there were two other groups taking pictures in front of the sign when we got there. they both sounded European and we joked that the show must just be getting big there. we went inside to use the bathroom and the inside doesn't look anything like the show. they had a gift shop in the back near the bathroom for Cheers memorabilia.

we walked around some more after that. we went through the park and they had a section by the lake roped off where two swans had their nests. we watched them turn over their eggs and they were so beautiful. I stood there watching them until Jason dragged me away. we then took the subway back to our car and then drove out of the city to our hotel. we had such a brief time in Boston, even less than other cities but I really liked what I saw. it is so clean, pretty, and full of great history. and all the people we met there were really nice, probably the nicest out of any other city (we might have just been lucky). I can't wait to go back and see what else Boston has to offer.
