a little southern

 s o u t h  c a r o l i n a

we left Georgia and headed up to Charleston, South Carolina. we went to the Battery park by the river which has a lot of war monuments and statues. we walked along the water and admired the beautiful old southern homes. Charleston is gorgeous, very clean and it seemed like everyone had a dog. it was another city that was very hard to leave.

I told Jason to stand by the tree for a pic and he decided this pose was better.

 the homes were unreal.

we walked along rainbow row which has the cutest houses in pastel colors.

the next day we walked around some more through neighborhoods looking at the houses.

we went to Magnolia plantation and gardens next which is absolutely stunning. the garden is huge and it has paths through it. there were lakes with alligators and large white bridges. it is hard to believe that all of the plants and flowers were planted because they look so natural. rather than being controlled the garden is supposed to be more natural and interact with nature.

we left Charleston and drove to my aunt and uncle's house right outside of Columbia. they live way back in the woods among beautiful trees and have a lake in their backyard. I couldn't believe they lived there because it was so perfect. a lot of the houses nearby people use as cabins but they said there are a few that are lived in. I caught my first fish in the lake and insisted that we feed it the worm before they threw it back in. as my cousin was forcing the worm down his throat he said he's never force fed a fish before. they thought it was pretty funny but I felt bad for the fish :)
they took us out on their boat the next day and we got drinks at the little shop by the lake. it was so peaceful and beautiful there and it was very good to relax after the hectic pace of our trip. once we left we were back to moving quickly from city to city.
