on the road

we didn't want to stay in New Orleans so we drove to Biloxi Mississippi and got a great deal on a hotel that overlooked the ocean. the next morning we ate breakfast at a cute little southern cafe. we ate some more beignets and some tasty pecan praline french toast.

we went to the beach nearby and some old war veteran started talking to us. he was describing all the damage that happened from hurricane Katrina and how it destroyed some buildings but left others right next door still standing.

this cool old abandoned saloon was near the Mississippi border.

we drove through the back roads in Alabama. it was cool seeing all the small towns and it surprised me that they never really stopped but there was one after another. we stopped at a few thrift stores along the way but other than that we just drove on through.

to be honest for Florida we just drove across the border and a few miles in to say that we had gone there. we would love to see the beaches but decided to plan another trip there so we can have more time to relax.

it was a day full of driving but I didn't mind it one bit. it was scenery and beautiful trees that I had never seen before and I was loving it. it was really cool to see how the scenery and trees changed from one state to the next. each state was distinctly its own but the change was gradual.
